Aidan Koch
Aidan Koch is an illustrator from Olympia, Washington who is currently residing in Portland. Both of her parents were artists (her dad painted the painting shown below!), and she's been drawing since she was very, very little. She graduated from PNCA in 2009, and has since gone on to become a crucial part of the comic community in Portland and beyond! She first became interested in comics after seeing the work of Mark Todd and Esther Pearl Watson, and soon started making a very unique breed of comic; with loose and beautiful narratives, detailed lines, and lush (when present) colors. She released her largest comic (64 pages!) "The Whale," late last year, and I seriously recommend picking up a copy (at Powell's, Nationale, and various other shops). Her work at the moment revolves mostly around a collaborative, pen-pal relationship with another comic artist, the Finnish Jaakko Pallasvuo, and she plans on doing some redefining traveling in the coming months to places like Spain and Turkey. Be sure to look at Aidan's beautiful comics around town, and through the link below!
