Dawn Sharp
Dawn Sharp is a Fashion Designer who became interested in designing around the age of ten while growing up in Seattle. From there, she nomadically traveled between Portland, Los Angeles, and New York, designing the whole way through, but luckily, she now calls Portland her exclusive home. I was fortunate enough to catch Dawn before a debut of her fall line at the Portland Design Collective, a line inspired by The Shakers of the mid/late 1700's and their views on perfection within craftsmanship. She was first drawn to the practices and ideals of The Shakers through the serendipitous discovery of a book detailing the Shakers' founder, Ann Lee, and used that inspiration to craft beautiful, tailored dresses and bonnets. Dawn designs out of her comfortable home in the Clinton neighborhood, surrounded by her adorable son Signe, two beautiful fluffy cats, and the largest array of fabrics I've ever seen. She also sings in the dark synth band, Lighthouse, and has a show coming up on the 24th of April at Valentines. Her designs can be found through her website and many small boutiques far and wide, including local boutique, Frances May (where the lovely psychedelic wing dresses pictured below were bound for). Be sure to check out Dawn's dreamy designs through her site, below!
