Erika Diehl
Erika Diehl is an abstract oil painter whose work explores the association of architecture and the conceptual space it seems to share with her art of painting. She explains, "My work revolves around a landscape idiom and a concern with physical and psychological situations of Place. The structure/object is the figure; it contemplates the world around it." This manifests itself within a feast of forms and texture, strange colors vibrating out of murky ones, and paintings that envelope you with an eerie emotional presence. Her work spans many sizes as well; from commanding wall-sized canvases to those we are used to seeing, each work is unique. Erika recently graduated from PSU, where she studied her craft and will be featured in the recent graduate's show at Blackfish Gallery this month. She is headed towards more exploratory painting as a MFA candidate at the Hoffberger School of Painting at MICA, so see her work while she's still local!
