Shawn Creeden

Shawn Creeden is a man of many talents--not only is he one half of the band White Hinterland, but he also embroiders, illustrates, paints, sculpts, photographs, and makes some damn good pretzels (which I just so happened to arrive for, see below)! What I really love about Shawn's work is that it is so heartfelt, and largely consists of detailed portraits of animals (hence the giant reference posters full of animal species). He comes at his work from a naturalist perspective, paying homage to each creature and learning in depth about their lives. He once held a show displaying beautiful portraits of bats, and then had a bat handler come to give a presentation about some of the kinds he had painted! Currently he is working mostly with embroideries, and is heavily influenced by the imagery in Cormac McCarthy's "All the Pretty Horses". Check out more of Shawn's work at his website below, and check back for his Equestrian embroideries, which should be displayed within the coming months!
